2022 Ford Lightning

The Ford F-150 is already the most well-received and favorite truck in the United States. The F-150 is a brand of its own. Car lovers and auto enthusiasts regard the F-150 as a dream truck. The most recent addition to the already impressive arsenal of F-150 is the 2022 model.

Ford turned heads and provoked whispers when it announced the release of an all-electric truck, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. Many doubted their ambitions. However, they made it. And they made it big. Let us see how the car is and what to expect from this electric F-150 truck.

Trims

As is the case with most cars and models, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning also comes in different shapes and sizes. We like to call them trims. The company announces trim after the base model to upgrade and spec up for more features.

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning comes in multiple trims. These are

  • The 2022 F-150 Lightning Pro (Base Model)
  • The 2022 F-150 Lightning XLT
  • The 2022 F-150 Lightning Lariat
  • 2022 F-150 Lightning Platinum

The 2022 F-150 Lightning Pro is the base model. Ford has announced the base model at a very attractive price. However, it lacks the specs and features F-150 lovers want the most. Therefore, the other trims make up for that shortcoming by splashing more cash.

The base model starts at $42,000. It is peanuts for an electric truck, and that too, the F-150. The price for the XLT trim is estimated at some $55,000. The Lariat and Platinum trims have expected starting prices at approximately $60,000 and $70,000.

Performance

All the Ford 2022 F-150 Lightning come with two electric motors. However, they have two battery types.  The two battery types are

  • The Standard Range Battery Pack
  • The Extended Range Battery Pack

The two motors’ power combines to produce a maximum capacity of 426 horsepower with the Standard Range Battery Pack. However, with help from the Extended Range battery Pack, the Ford F-150 rises to 563 horsepower. It is a mountainous power. On top of that impressive power, the Ford 2022 F-150 produces a whooping torque of 775 lb-ft.

The Standard Range Battery Pack can power the truck for 230 miles in one go. However, the Extended Range Battery Pack supplies power over a longer time. Therefore, it enables the truck to cover 300 miles without a recharge.

You can quickly charge up the batteries of F-150 at any 110 V or 220 V outlets. These outlets are standard in most homes. Moreover, you can also charge the battery at charging stations. It takes the 2022 Ford F-150 forty-four minutes to charge from 15% to 80%.

Ford claims that the 2022 Ford F-150’s battery can power a home for three days. So your 2022 Ford F 150 can double as a generator when the power is out, or the grid is down.

The key takeaway is that all the 2022 F-150 truck trims are All Wheel Drive. This is how drivers like their trucks.

Technology

The Ford 2022 F-150 is a haven for tech geeks. It has all the facilities that one needs in a car.

The Pro and XLT trims have a 12.0-inch display screen. However, the two higher trims have an even bigger 15.0-inch display screen. The infotainment system comes with Ford’s best Sync 4 software.

You can connect iOS or Android devices. It also has a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Safety

Safety comes first at Ford. The 2022 F-150 Lightning is the safest a vehicle can get. It has the option of Ford’s signature BlueCruise semi-autonomous drive mode.

Moreover, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning also has

  • Automated Emergency Braking
  • Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane-keeping Assist
  • Lane-departure Warning
  • Cruise Control
